Discovering NWIS Groundwater Level Metadata

When search results are returned in HydroClient there is the option to view metadata describing the data sets that have been found. This is done by clicking on an individual marker or clicking the Show Search Results button in the search bar. To learn more about the individual metadata fields, click here. When viewing the table of search results that contain any U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Information System (NWIS) Groundwater Level Data, you will notice the Site Name field is hyperlinked to the National Water Information System: Web Interface as circled in the screenshot below.

The NWIS Web Interface provides additional information on the particular well, including well depth, hole depth, national and local aquifer the well was drilled in and additional resources for related data. An example of the NWIS Web Interface page is shown below. nwis.JPG
